I agree that Guanajuato is interesting and vibrant. I’ve only been once but definitely want to spend more time there!

Oh yes that’s why we created a whole series out of this. You’ll find that I dig deeper and pick out some less-visited spots throughout the series — for instance in my outdoors and nature article, I cover the Copper Canyon and Pico de Orizaba, in the culture seekers article, I talk about Zacatecas and Pátzcuaro.

That’s all. Not particularly an overwhelming choice, but a start for beginners. Please follow up with a wider choice that involves real exploration into Mexico’s incredibly vast wonders on part of a traverlers interests with a bit more challenge.

I don’t know how it could have been left out of this.

Years ago Gringos were a noticeable subset. Now – our Jardin is primarily filled with bright shiny Mexicans. Many Young. All Enjoying themselves & the city’s charms. Judging from license plates and conversations the city appeals to lots of Mexican visitors from QRO, CDMX ect. And many don’t just visit – they stay – open businesses and revitalize the community.
To justify a 10% gringo population you have to count all the ones who have retreated to the Campo. This IS a very MEXICAN city. Upscale for sure – but MEXICAN. Gringolandia myths belong with big foot sittings.

Skooby –
Just a fact check. Less than 10% of San Miguel’s metropolitan area population is foreign. Hardly “entirely occupied”.

That’s the last place I would travel to “to live”. It was on my list and I removed it since it’s almost entirely occupied by foreigners. I moved elsewhere.
