Yes it’s hard to include all the details into the article, but I do apologise. Bahia de Huatulco or Huatulco Bay is quite a big area, so it’s hard to pinpoint it. It takes at least 10 days to do the entire Oaxaca road trip, from Oaxaca City across San Jose de Pacifico to the coast and onwards to Puerto Escondido.

Hi Jorge, sorry to have confused you! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I’ll keep that in mind for future articles. Most travelers hit Hwy 307 from Cancun to Tulum, so I wanted to share an alternative route that’ll take you away from the resorts and into the Mayan heartlands with archaeological sites, cenotes and historical towns. Laguna Bacalar is also an offbeat area compared to the Riviera Maya. Only after Bacalar then do you end up on Hwy 307 and back to the touristy strip, which is still beautiful and worth exploring.

Quiet surf town that still remains that way. We are staying this week in a spot 10 hours south driving but we don’t want anyone to know. It is beautiful the way it is.

It turns out that there is a town of Huatulco which is very far from the ocean and Santa María Huatulco near Parque Nacional Huatulco on the shore, and it is another 2 hour drive to Puerto Escondidio. Please try to be more clear about the details.

I thought that you start out on 307, but you don’t really begin on Hwy 307. You don’t start to drive on that highway until after Merida and after a long 4 hour drive on Hwy 293 to Laguna Bacalar. That is where you catch the 307. I recommend that in your travel articles, especially for tourists that are new to an area that you make the route more clear and include references to long driving times like 4 hours. I think that you need to be more clear about how to drive.

I would love to see more about the “Pueblo mágico’s in the country.
