She warned of the tragic loss of community when you don’t have little local Abarrotes , Carnicerias, Tienditas. These ground floor glue that knows what’s going on… Watches the kids as they grow. Helps in the same way that bees and ants pass info in the hive or colony. So much of what I love about Mexico is this sort of thing.

I don’t own a tiendita, nor business . . . and I learned this here in Chiapas . . . as a cliente always greet the people of the tiendita with “buenos dias – buenos tarders” it is returned!!! And I always when placing an order offer upfront to pay an anticipo ( deposit or advance ), out of respect and to present myself as serious & earnest, and to prove I am trustworthy . . . con una sonrisa

What I’ve learned:
● most people are good, some are not.
●know your customer: some are credit worthy, most are not.
●if you special order something for a client ALWAYS get a substantial deposit or you might get stuck with it for years
●always have some candy for the little ones, both the kiddos and the parents are always appreciative.
●always greet clients with a handshake and smile, 99% of the time it’s reciprocal.
