Aww thanks Travis, and you are so right! These ruins have a totally different feel and energy than those in Yucatán or Riviera Maya.

I visited in the early 1970″s. I would love to go back to see all that has been discovered since then.

We visited Palenque last year. It truly is a beautiful and fascinating site. If the claim that only 3% of the ruins are visible is true there is a lot of potential here to be Mexico’s top archeological site.

Great article and perspective…thank you. I can attest first hand from several visits that Palenque is an awesome site to visit….a totally different experience from many of the other big ones like Chichen Itza, Teotihuacan, Monte Alban, Tulum, etc….. put it on your list!
