Cruise ships can be like giant petri dishes. Disease can be spread to the established residents. Lack of cultural sensitivity, can lead to rude and patronizing behavior. Life is more than money and supporting economic divisions. Tourism is basically a path to continued inequality and poverty.

As a former diver I was very concerned about this situation. I donated to one of the local divers associations trying to stop the effort. I am so glad that it succeeded.

OMG! Those numbers are stunning! That entire area of Mexico is a jewel. Spectacular water, both above and below. Please, please, please protect it. I agree, Caguichi.

While I am sorry to see the area's economy unable to benefit from this situation I am happy to see the local environment benefiting! I don't see any acceptable compromise that could turn the situation around....
