It’s the type of nonsense that we hear out of the US White House ad nauseum.

The truth is that PRI, PAN and PRD politicians and apartchiks – as well as military and federal police under these administrations – are known to have collaborated with various cartel organizations. The most prominent is Genaro García Luna, Calderón’s former security chief convicted in the U.S. for accepting bribes from the Sinaloa Cartel while overseeing Mexico’s federal police.

Calderón’s policies fueled the violence, which Nieto continued and the violence and drug trade – the latter responding to demand outside of Mexico – expanded. This is what AMLO inherited and influenced his decision to employ another strategy. Any suggestion that he supported cartels again is without merit.

The reality is the US population’s historic demand for weed, now insignificant due to legalization, and harder drugs combined with the disastrous US ‘war on drugs’ is the source of the cartel violence.

With El Chapo and now his sons all in US prisons, Sheinbaum, and Morena know that they are talking. For 6 years AMLO let the cartels run free and there are plenty of stories/rumors of his toes to the cartels. Sheinbaum did nothing differently until Trump forced her to start doing something, and much of that has been with US intelligence. The demands she has made to be involved in the case and details of Zambada’s arrest has been shady since the beginning. Like a guilty person trying to find out what was being said to try and get out in front of it. Defamation is incredibly difficult to prove and win. She is posturing to maintain her image. Just wait. Once the details of the plea agreement are publicized, Morena’s involvement with the cartels will be public as well. Which really isn’t a big deal. That is simply politics in Mexico.

This situation highlights the complexities of international relations, legal disputes, and perceptions of government efforts to combat organized crime.

Sheinbaum’s actions, including her press statements and legal response, demonstrate her commitment to defending her reputation and that of her administration. By insisting on clarification and transparency regarding accusations, she not only distances herself from the allegations but also reinforces her administration’s stance on addressing organized crime and U.S.-Mexico cooperation.

President Claudia Sheinbaum’s leadership, from her tenure as mayor of Mexico City to her role as President of Mexico, highlights her ability to navigate complex challenges with a focus on both local and international priorities. Her scientific background and pragmatic approach have helped her address issues ranging from urban development to international cooperation.

Key Aspects of Sheinbaum’s Leadership

Commitment to Science and Problem-Solving: Sheinbaum’s training as an environmental scientist has shaped her decision-making. Her policies often reflect a data-driven and solution-oriented mindset, whether addressing climate change, urban sustainability, or public health.

Tackling Gentrification and Inequality: As mayor of Mexico City, Sheinbaum demonstrated a proactive stance on gentrification, advocating for policies that balanced urban development with the protection of vulnerable communities. Her focus on affordable housing and public transportation reflected a commitment to equitable development.

Strengthening U.S.-Mexico Relations: Sheinbaum has walked a delicate line between addressing U.S. demands and preserving Mexican sovereignty. Her administration has taken steps to combat drug manufacturing and flow while emphasizing the need for the U.S. to address its role in illegal arms trafficking into Mexico. This balanced approach fosters accountability on both sides.

Transparency and Accountability: The recent defamation lawsuit against Jeffrey Lichtman underscores her dedication to transparency and accountability. By challenging baseless accusations, she not only defends her administration but also sends a broader message about the importance of integrity in leadership.

Inclusive Governance: Sheinbaum has consistently advocated for all Mexicans, including marginalized groups. Her policies often address systemic issues such as poverty, education, and healthcare, aiming for long-term improvement rather than temporary fixes.

Why Sheinbaum Stands Out
Holistic Vision: She combines local governance expertise with a global perspective, understanding that Mexico’s challenges often have international dimensions.
Resilience in Adversity: Whether managing crises like the COVID-19 pandemic or combating baseless accusations, Sheinbaum has shown resilience and poise.
Focus on Collaboration: Her willingness to engage with civil society, international stakeholders, and other governments reflects her collaborative leadership style.

Moving forward Sheinbaum’s, leadership will continue to be tested, especially as she navigates the complexities of combating organized crime, fostering economic growth, and maintaining diplomatic ties. However, her principled approach, rooted in science and equity, positions her as a strong leader capable of addressing these challenges effectively.

Cartels are allowed to operate and flourish in Mexico. No attempt whatsoever to dismantle and eliminate them.

She should try her case there. Unless there is actual evidence ( and I severely doubt it from the actions her government has taken against the cartels) that lawyer is going to want to settle out of court.

What we want is clarification,” she said during her July 11 press conference. After his client’s hearing, Lichtman responded to Sheinbaum’s criticism, calling the idea that he would seek Mexico’s cooperation in the case “absurd.” . . . Shortly after, the Federal Attorney General’s Office released a statement demanding that the attorney submit documentation to prove his allegations that Mexican officials are colluding with drug traffickers.’ One Mexican lawyer who had represented Mexican cartel figures was roasted in her quest (successful) to become an elected Mexican judge. Darkman currently represents multiple Chapitos as is usually done in organized-crime cases despite the potential for severe conflicts of interest, and thinks that he deserves less roasting?!? The Mexican government obviously has an interest in getting the information, and Darkman’s comments paint himself as both a schmuck and shyster in a country (U.S.A.) headed by a fake president who is a true felon.
