Swastik – Perception

Rakhi

Last rakshabandhan I tied “Rakhi” in Canada. And life moved on. And interesting thing happened. My Rakhi had “Swastika” Sign. This Sign is an auspicious sign in Hinduism but not eveyrone in our neighbourhood are having knowledge of Hinduism.  But they do know Nazzis very well 🙂 , I did not realize that that perception here with my Rakhi can be completely different.

I was able to recall people staring at my wristband when my neighbour told me that it is funny that people here think this as a Nazzi symbol where in hinduism it is a specific symbol.

I did not realize that I may have been perceived as an Antisemitist

This led me to think more on It is always what people believe not you portray.
